In kindergarten we have been studying 2D and 3D shapes.  The children in the class were invited to bring in two 3D items from home to use in creating a 3D sculpture.   I also provided some extra items so that we would have some of each shape (cylinders, cones, cubes, rectangular prisms and spheres).  The students were divided into 3 groups and took turns working with me to create some amazing sculptures.  See for yourself!

We made these adorable penguins the week of January 13th.  First, the students listened to an amusing book called Cuddly Duddly.  We talked about what a fun character he was, more like a human, than a real penguin.  Then we started working on cutting out the pieces for the penguins and gluing the parts in the correct places.  During center time over the next few days, each of the students had the opportunity to add snowflakes.  We used white paint and 2 different foam snowflakes.  The end results were penguins with lots of personality.  Stop by our room to see these fun penguins on display on the walls around the door.

These pictures were taken at our winter party on December 20th.  The kids had fun making beaded snowflakes, tall party hats and playing a snowball relay.  Everyone loved the snacks, too.  Thanks to all of the parents who sent in items and/or attended the party.
